Program Goals
The STTA program has objectives in two areas: student outcomes and program
outcomes.
Goals have been identified by the Steering Committee with accompanying
specific objectives
and the indicators by which they will be measured. In brief, however, the
goals are as follows:
To initiate an arts centered curriculum at West High School
To demonstrate the positive benefits of a unified Arts-based curriculum
To promote educational redesign and improvement
To expand existing arts programs at West High School
To challenge students to strive for excellence within the range of their
abilities,
talents, and goals
To promote a synthesis of problem-solving and other higher level thinking
skills
To foster innovative and creative thinking
To promote cooperation and teamwork
To enhance student personal responsibility
As the program grows and students proceed up the path of their high school
education,
these goals will be assessed by examining the associated indicators.
Objectives will
undoubtedly need adjustment as time passes, adding and trimming where needed.
